Favorite albums of all time?

Postby Little Red Rooster » 01 Dec 04, 5:24 am

When push comes to shove, what are your five favorite CD's of all time. Compilations and greatest hits packages don't count! Mine, after much debate is:

1. Beggar's Banquet - The Rolling Stones
2. Who's Next - the Who
3. Pet Sounds - The Beach Boys
4. Abbey Road - The Beatles
5. Highway 61 Revisited - Bob Dylan

Yes, I suppose this means I am OLD! But I've loved most of these since I was a kid. Not that old, really - my age still starts with a "3"

Here's my top five. My favorite band Grateful Dead, of course is not around any more, but they were in my opinion the best live band ever. Trust me, no one was bored at a Grateful dead concert.

1. Led Zeppelin IV - Led Zeppelin
2. Abbey Road - The Beatles
3. Harvest - Neil Young
4. Breakfast in America - Supertramp
5. Live (at Edmonton) - Procol Harum

I'm a Deadhaed too! I've saw more than 30 shows before Jerry died. Ya got any good shows on CD we could trade? Most of my stuff is on tape (I don't even own a cassette player any more) but I've got a few choice bits to barter with. Interested?

I do have some recordings, not ones that I made, but ones that were made semi proffessionally. The recordings are on reel to reel tapes. I have a strong feeling that you will know what reel to reel tapes are, but a doubt many others will know. So much of what I listen to now is on CD or the moldy oldy goldy station that I haven't set up my old Akai in 9 years. But let me see what I can do over the holidays.

Good to meet another Deadhead. My tie dyed's are faded but not forgotten and I'm never telling the kids what we used to do.

Yeah, my tie-dyes are all gone. I bump into an old ticket stub once in a while though.

Why don't you compile a list of what you've got on CD, then send me a PM, and we can compare notes.

Read some reviews of Dead albums I wrote here:

P.S. They did a great version of "Little Red Rooster," no?

If the request line is open how about Heighty Hi or any thing else from Lee Michaels. I realize this is some what obscure; but I guess that's why it's been a long time since I've heard it

Perfect Stranger - Deep Purple
Bruce Springstein - Born To Run
