The orange star in the constolation Orion is called Betelgeuse. It can be seen through the naked eye from earth and its orange hue can be discerned from the usual white stars we see.
Betelgeuse is one of the largest stars we know of and ready to go bang at any point, however if it did it would take about 640 years for the light to reach us due to the star being about 640 light years away. 1 light year is around 6.2 trillion miles or just under 10 trillion kilometers and yet we cna still see it from earth. This is because if it was in our solar system it would be bigger than the distance from the sun to just past jupiter.
Betelgeuse is so big that it could fit 1.6 billion suns inside it.
So, do you feel small yet??
(I bought a book about the universe today, can you tell???)
