Abandoned Hospitals.

Abandoned Hospitals.

Abandoned hospitals are something of a niche of mine.
I'm not sure why, but Urban Decay and abandoned buildings have always fascinated me.
The way that things decompose and deteriorate over time is a constant reminder that we're not going to be new and sparkly forever.
The great sense of sadness and depression is intriguing to me.
Is it psychological, or caused by a mass of negative energy?

Anyhoo, this site was pretty interesting and to be honest quite disturbing.
If anyone has seen/played Silent Hill they'll see where the inspiration came from.

[Warning: May be disturbing to sensitive viewers.]

Interesting.

It reminded me that a hospital/asylum near us closed a few years back. An old Victorian building - we can see the towers from the end of our street - being developed into a trendy housing "village". As a lad, we had to go for cross-country runs every Friday afternoon from school, a run which took us through the woods and through the grounds of the hospital. Because it was known locally as the "looney bin" nobody on these runs wanted to be "tail end Charlie" whilst on the way through the grounds as the inhabitants were usually lurking behind trees waiting to pounce - or so we all believed.

Pics of the deserted place can be found  here for your perusal

I did my training in a 'bin' and I still say it was the best foundation I could have had for my career.

Care in the Community continues to be a farce and that won't change all the time the cheapest option is taken instead of the one that meets the needs of the patient.
