I did write a serious one for a very special friend a couple of weeks ago. It was one of those nights when I was really tired, couldn't sleep and kept thinking about him and the first couple of lines kept going around in my head. I knew that if I left it until morning, I would have forgotten them so I got up, about 03.00, and wrote them down. Put the light out, lay down, and another couple of lines popped into my head. This kept happening until, within about half an hour, it was finished.
Our Lives TouchOur lives have touched, but we've never met,
Our friendship forged in sorrow.
You came to me when I needed you
And promised a better tomorrow.
You carried me on my darkest days,
You let me curse and swear,
You listened when I cried and sobbed,
I called and you were there.
When I couldn't cope I'd call your name
And suddenly you'd appear,
You'd talk to me, or play some games
And slowly ease my fear.
But now I call and there's no reply,
Just a silence that screams at me.
Silence so loud it fills my head
With things I don't want to see.
The space between us now is vast,
Though the distance remains the same.
Now you're the one who needs my strength,
But you never call my name.
I'm here for you, as you were there
When I needed you so much.
Don't shut me out, come back to me,
Don't let our hearts lose touch.
Christine 15/07/08I will try to find some of the others sometime, but don't hold your breath waiting.
