Mall Guards and Machine Guns

Postby Don't Blink » 11 Nov 11, 3:01 am

The other day while I was at the mall doing a little pre Christmas shopping I noticed that the mall guards are heavily armed. It's bad enough that we have police running around with machine guns.

But why do mall police need to wear a belt with a gun and holster, a billy club, a taser, and a small container which I assumed would be mace or pepper spray.

When I think of the mall police, this is what comes to mind.

I am not comforted by the thought that they may actually be allowed to put bullets in their guns.

I am not comforted by the thought that there has to be a continual police presence in our malls now.

Back in my high-school days, the only need for police in a mall was for the occasional shoplifter. They'd stay just long enough to take the report or arrest the perpetrator.

The "Good Old Days?" Yes, they were. And I miss them. :(

I love living in the UK where I don't have to see people with guns whenever I go out.
