Why do Americans seem to be poorly informed on economic and government policy matters?

Could the media coverage have something to do with it?

It is not that we are smarter or dumber than anyone else. It is access to the facts

It's all part of the 'dumbing down' of the electorate in the hope that they won't create too many waves.

Keep them uninformed, with just basic education, and you can do more or less anything you want.
