Future Shop spokesman Elliott Chun told CTV that individuals bought the iPads with cash,
replaced them with the model clay, then returned the packages to the stores. The returned
fakes were restocked on the shelve and sold to new, unwitting customers.

That's a mean thing to do but the scam probably netted them around $5,000.

They paid cash for them, took the packages back for a refund and then sold on the ipads for cash to someone who didn't ask questions.
