How to spot fake online product reviews

Postby Jack Flash » 11 Dec 11, 7:26 am

You hear the advice all the time: Before you buy something, especially a big-ticket item, go online and check the user reviews. It makes sense to learn what people who bought a product think about it.

But can these comments be trusted? In most cases they can, but not always. Some are written by manufacturers, retailers or salespeople trying to drum up business. Others are posted by people who are paid to write phony reviews.

How encouraging. :D
Well, I don't always trust the favorable opinions, I search for negative ones and how bad they are.
I also wrote some favorable opinions about palces where I spent vacations, (why not) I hope people will not think they are fake.
I'm a fan of Bit of Fun.

I don't tend to take just one review, good or bad, but look around to get a more balanced view.
