Boy, 12, and girl, 13, face child pornography, exploitation counts - http://www.thesmokinggun.com/archive/ye ... text1.html

Why would you brand a 12 yr child as a sexual criminal for sending a photo of themselves in underwear to a peer.

I can't see how they can charge two minors with child pornography, but it seems to be happening quite a lot in the US as I remember reading a similar article on here last year sometime. As far as I know, it hasn't happened in the UK (yet).

yeah they do bring charges here for that , or so I have read on occassion, but out of curosity, I wonder what happens when it goes t court, ie convicted or dismissed ? because to me any rational thinking person would consider it too harsh, then again we are talking about our legal system so who knows

Maybe to combat any paedophalic leanings later on in life?

The more I think about it, the more it reasons it may have been so to prevent texting bullying. I mean, I don't know the circumstances surrounding those two, it could be one pressured the other to do it, and at that age peer pressure is a huge thing. To nip it in the bud and send messages to other children that it's illegal may do some good in preventing the more serious cases from happening??

But then again, on the flip side, when I was around 11 or 12, me and my female friends had a "show me yours and I'll show you mine" phrase at school with the boys in our class. A natural thing, but at this day and age of paedophiles, nothing is allowed!

...and if you had a cell phone with built in camera?

In the US the sex offender registration list controls where you live, go to school, affects your ability to work, and lasts for the rest of your life unless you can convince a court to expunge your name.

I agree that there are people that need to be on that list - but not curious kids.

 it's a good thing they didn't have cell phones back then - half the internet would be off limits

   :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

It's just as well there weren't any cell phones back then, not for reasons listed, but because internet would be awash with wobbly bits of mine! Older and wiser when the cell phone came about so no way I'd do what i would have done back then in my "to hell with rules and regulations" stance.
