When Factory Jobs Vanish, Men Become Less Desirable Partners
https://www.theatlantic.com/business/ar ... ly/518280/

"They found that manufacturing declines significantly affected the supply of what they termed “marriageable” men—men who are not drinking or using drugs excessively and who have a job. (...) the numbers of marriageable men relative to women declined, because men had migrated elsewhere, joined the military, or fallen out of the labor force."

None of the women I know are looking for a full time partner. They are self reliant and not interested in marriage. If I were younger I might be concerned, but at this stage I'm good with it

♫ sounds like a drunkard's dream if I ever did hear one♫ lol

well it does make sense tho, if a man doesn't have a job or is unlikely to get a decent paying one then he will just be a drag on the woman, she can get more help from the govt without him

You need to break out of the 19th century. Women have jobs, pay taxes, support families and don't need government handouts to get by

yes they can and do, but that doesn't change what I said or make it untrue, a single woman with , especially with kids can get more help from the govt than one with a man can, I didn't say or imply that she either had to have man or get help from the govt

okay but if you read what you wrote, it looks like you are saying a woman needs a man or she will have to depend on the government.

I should have explained my thought better I guess, sorry, just think everyone can tell what I mean without me typing it,

him not working wouldn't affect her income, be a drain on it tho thats why I jumped to the govt thing

my mom raised me and my sister without ever getting a dime form the govt and not much more than that from my dad, often had to work 3 jobs to do it so yes I do know firsthand what women are capable of doing

Wasn't trying to be difficult, and women are strong when we need to be. I think it's an old thing too. Sometimes older women tell me I need a man in my life.

Can't afford them, and if you let them hang around for too long they try to own you

You never had to buy the whole package. There have always been rental options available.
