Torches of Freedom

Postby Don't Blink » 05 Jun 16, 11:22 pm

The 1929 "Torches of Freedom" public relations campaign equated smoking with female emancipation. This image from Germany actually predates the American campaign. In various forms and places around the world, the campaign continues to this day.

Cigarette companies began selectively advertising to women in the late 1920s. In 1928 George Washington Hill, the president of the American Tobacco Company, realized the potential market that could be found in women and said, β€œβ€œIt will be like opening a gold mine right in our front yard.”

Never let an opportunity to use a situation to exploit people your benefit go by

If there are aliens they probably determined that we would be much like the Ferengi of Startrek fame and decided to avoid us

These days, with the push to vaping instead of smoking, cigarette manufacturers have jumped on the band wagon and most of the e-cigs available are manufactured by tobacco companies.

Even though tobacco is bad for the health my tobacco allotment is profitable enough that I continue to grow it.

What can I say :dontknow:
Handle life like a dog... eat it , screw it, or just piss on it and walk away
