My sweet kitty...

Postby MailboxLady » 13 Aug 07, 1:33 pm

My black Manx that I got when I was 17 years old died this morning. He lived for 17 years, through 6 moves, my high school graduation, college graduation, marriage, birth of my child...

We buried him this morning in the backyard. I'm heading out now to buy a tree that I can plant next to him.

This really sucks.

I'm sorry to hear that MailboxLady, :( when we have pets we have them for life too. Do you have a picture? We would like to see it. Our yard has 6 cats, 2 dogs, 1 guinea pig, 1 rat and a bunch of little fish buried in it and we loved them all.

Thanks guys. I do have pictures. Not many good ones that are digital though. Seems as if I stopped taking pictures of the pets (I had 2 cats and 3 ferrets) once my son was born 4 years ago. Although, 2 days ago my son got a hold of my digital camera and took 66 pictures of him. Maybe one or two came out ok. He was in such bad shape towards the end. Too skinny, fur all matted, despite my attempts at bathing and brushing him.

It's funny, I feel guilty that I stopped paying as much attention to Bob as I used to once my kid was born, but I guess it's natural.

aww, having lost cats myself and all lived over 15 years its really really sad when they pass, mostly we have them much longer than humans that come and go in our lives
when you think back to the events that passed when you had your cats its seems like a lifetime, mostly it is

many sympathies

You shouldn't feel guilty. Priorities are priorites, and believe me I have always placed a high priority on my pets, but even at that, your kids do take presidence...even if they don't behave as well as your pets.

Here's my new kitty

My 4 year old picked him out at the local Humane Society and named him Cutie Pie.

It's been 17 years since I had a kitten in the house, I've forgotten how much energy they have!

I can so feel your pain MBL... having lost my beloved cats in the past, the latest being my sweet little Amun. It truly is like a part of your heart leaves when they go.
However, I am a great believer that getting another pet does help... they can never replace your cherished pet, but they do bring new life into yours. Hope you two have fun... let the adventure begin...
I'm up to three cats, one dog, two aquariums, and a tarantula now. NEVER work for a veterinarian... lol!
