... well, MNP was daft enough to say she would like to read some of my poems so I am putting one here as a taster.

In olden days
It was the craze
For women to be girdled.

I know I'm fat
But rather that
Than have my insides curdled.

I did write a serious one for a very special friend a couple of weeks ago. It was one of those nights when I was really tired, couldn't sleep and kept thinking about him and the first couple of lines kept going around in my head. I knew that if I left it until morning, I would have forgotten them so I got up, about 03.00, and wrote them down. Put the light out, lay down, and another couple of lines popped into my head. This kept happening until, within about half an hour, it was finished. :lmao:

Our Lives Touch

Our lives have touched, but we've never met,
Our friendship forged in sorrow.
You came to me when I needed you
And promised a better tomorrow.

You carried me on my darkest days,
You let me curse and swear,
You listened when I cried and sobbed,
I called and you were there.

When I couldn't cope I'd call your name
And suddenly you'd appear,
You'd talk to me, or play some games
And slowly ease my fear.

But now I call and there's no reply,
Just a silence that screams at me.
Silence so loud it fills my head
With things I don't want to see.

The space between us now is vast,
Though the distance remains the same.
Now you're the one who needs my strength,
But you never call my name.

I'm here for you, as you were there
When I needed you so much.
Don't shut me out, come back to me,
Don't let our hearts lose touch.

I will try to find some of the others sometime, but don't hold your breath waiting.

Aww that was beautiful and heart felt, it makes my heart pang, you know, been there and done that, got the t-shirt (but can't wear it as it didn't fit. )

I sure hope to see you submit more, I like writing, but love reading others prose.

Thank you, MNP, that means a lot to me.

For Bobby

We hope you know you're special
And no, not just to us.
We reckon we could easily
Fill a double decker bus.

We love your sense of humour
You're caring and you're fun.
We miss you when you're not around
You help bring out the sun.

We know you'll think we're crazy
We know you'll think we're sad
But we still love you, Bobby
Even when your barking mad.

We've had some fun together
We've laughed and, yes, we've cried,
But through it all, dear Bobby
We're always on your side.

You'll find the strength to fight this
You'll find the will to live.
So many people love you
And you have so much to give.

So take the help that's offered
And lean on those who care.
We know that if the roles reversed
You'd be the first one there.

We want you back soon, Bobby
Catching up on things.
We want to see the feathers
On your newly sprouting wings.

I don't write much now, but when I do I find the words flow. There is no point in me sitting and 'trying' to write, I have to wait until the words come to me.

That is the same with me... You can't force writing poetry.. It has to come naturally.... then and only then does the words flow onto the paper freely... :)

Thank you, FB and IQ. I haven't been able to find my book, and the ones that I had saved on computer are on the HD of my old laptop. I'm going to have to get them somehow. Most are more similar to the first one, though. I write comic verse much more easily.

I still haven't been able to access my other stuff, but remembered another short one.

I wonder if I'll ever be
As normal as you seem to me.

I do hope not, with all my heart,
I'd hate to be a boring fart.
