Very true "Blondie", but in my lifetime I've found that sometimes the bad ones serve a purpose also.  If nothing else a warning signal, a caution light, a "hey Larry, stop and think about that first"...

The man speaks the truth M~L.

No bad memories = No frame of reference for the future.

Example, Sticking your hand in the fire and getting burned = Bad memory.

So later, when someone says to you "Stick your hand in this fire"  ....Get my drift?

We need bad memories too.

Thought for today

Postby breeze » 03 Apr 07, 12:28 pm

When the door of happiness closes, another opens, but often times we look so long at the closed door that we don't see the one which has been opened for us.
*
It's true that we don't know what we've got until we lose it, but it's also true that we don't know what we've been missing until it arrives.
*
Giving someone all your love is never an assurance that they'll love you back! Don't expect love in return; just wait for it to grow in their heart but if it doesn't, be content it grew in yours. It takes only a minute to get a crush on someone, an hour to like someone, and a day to love someone, but it takes a lifetime to forget someone.
*
Don't go for looks; they can deceive. Don't go for wealth; even that fades away. Go for someone who makes you smile because it takes only a smile to make a dark day seem bright. Find the one that makes your heart smile.
*
There are moments in life when you miss someone so much that you just want to pick them from your dreams and hug them for real!
*
Dream what you want to dream; go where you want to go; be what you want to be, because you have only one life and one chance to do all the things you want to do.
*
May you have enough happiness to make you sweet, enough trials to make you strong, enough sorrow to keep you human, enough hope to make you happy.
*
Always put yourself in others' shoes. If you feel that it hurts you, it probably hurts the other person, too.
*
Maybe God wants us to meet a few wrong people before meeting the right one so that when we finally meet the right person, we will know how to be grateful for that gift.
*
The brightest future will always be based on a forgotten past; you can't go on well in life until you let go of your past failures and heartaches.
*
I'm a fan of Bit of Fun.

Those are great Breeze..Thanks.. I especially like this one as it is so true..

MNP, I agree. Of course, beauty is important. But beauty passes (I'm not sure about the word) and after that is important to remain something. Something maybe more important than beauty. Something important from the begining to the end.
Of course, we all love beauty and wealth, but more important are inside beauty and inside wealth.

Dirtz, I think I know what you mean, and of course I understand. But, you also have to know, and of course you know, that "the brightest future will always be based on a forgotten past; you can't go on well in life until you let go of your past failures and heartaches."

I personally like this thing one of my fav book caracters said, allthough I know many won't agree with me:

"After all, over the years we do not change, we just become more ourselfs."

(Not the exact words, I'll look them up.)

Those are all wonderful truisms. I had seen those somewhere else very recently, Breeze, but can't for the life of me think where.

Thanks Breeze and Melek, for posting them.

Thought for the day

Postby Jack Flash » 28 Apr 07, 6:42 am

If you can start the day without caffeine,

If you can get going without pep pills,

If you can always be cheerful, ignoring aches and pains,

If you can resist complaining and boring people with your troubles,

If you can eat the same food every day and be grateful for it,

If you can understand when your loved ones are too busy to give you any
time,

If you can take criticism and blame without resentment

If you can ignore a friend's limited education and never correct him,

If you can resist treating a rich friend better than a poor friend,

If you can conquer tension without medical help,

If you can relax without liquor,

If you can sleep without the aid of drugs,

...Then

.
