Animal Portraits
Some of the better wildlife photos tend to be images with direct eye contact with the animal. There's usually a connection when looking eye to eye with another living creature that gives an image the wow factor.
Getting memorable eye-to-eye, photos requires a decent knowledge of the animal and habitat, as well as lots of patience. Camera placement should be approximately at the same height as you are subject.
Consider using a camera mount, and setting the camera at eye level with your subject. If you back away and use a remote, you will tend to get images with natural behavior.
