Time Lapse Navigation of a Ship Channel

This surrealistic time lapse video is of a ship traveling outward bound on the Houston Ship Channel .

For a perspective, the ship measures 600 feet long by 106 feet wide. The time lapse video used photos taken at six second intervals during the 3 hour outbound trip on the Houston Ship Channel.  The video below is the same trip during daylight hours.

You can find more about the video, and view some beautiful maritime photos from Lou Vest at www.flickr.com/photos/oneeighteen.

If you liked the sound, pay a visit to Allman Brothers Band for some great southern fried rock and roll.

The same path down the Houston Ship Channel during daylight hours.

Finally, this is a link to a satellite view using Google maps of the Houston Ship Channel From the link you can zoom in on any areas of interest.

Video editing from the original, compression, and the addition on a sound track was accomplished with Audacity and Avidemux both of which are free open source programs.
